The programme helps to build knowledge of the history, special places and people of Tai Tokerau – Northland to proudly share with manuhiri; to extend an understanding of what it takes to authentically connect with visitors, to contribute to the ongoing and future success of Northland by providing simple tools to enhance visitor and customer experiences right across the region.
Participants engage in a three-hour workshop delving into the history and unique story of Te Tai Tokerau – Northland, including early Māori history and legends, experience of early explorers, missionaries, sealers and whalers, European settlers, signing of the Treaty of Waitangi, right through to the exciting regional growth and economy of today.
During this bespoke programme you’ll explore ways to connect, engage authentically and make a real difference to visitors from around NZ and the globe, ensuring they’re left with a highly memorable and lasting impression of the specialness of Tai Tokerau – Northland.
On successful completion of the programme and Ambassador quiz, participants will receive a Tai Tokerau – Northland Ambassador lapel pin.
