The Te Tai Poutini West Coast Ambassador Programme is a course designed for people engaging with both domestic and international visitors across the region. The aim is to create storytellers and ambassadors with real pride in Te Tai Poutini West Coast.

The programme helps to build your knowledge of history and Te Tai Poutini West Coast locations to proudly share; to extend your cross-cultural understanding to authentically connect with visitors; and to grow your business by providing simple tools to develop the overall visitor and customer experience.

Participants engage in a three-hour workshop delving into the history and unique story of Te Tai Poutini West Coast, including local Māori history and legends, the experience of early settlers, and how the local economy has evolved up to the present day.

This bespoke programme also includes advice on how to connect with visitors from key international visitor markets, ensuring they’re left with a positive and lasting impression of Te Tai Poutini West Coast.

On successful completion of the programme, participants will receive an Te Tai Poutini West Coast lapel pin and a certificate of completion.
